Google first tested the potential of its streaming media technology with Chromecast, a $35 dongle that can be plugged into a television set to enable people to access digital video services such as YouTube or Netflix. According to Parks Associates the device has emerged as the number two media-streaming device in the US, capturing 20 percent of sales to American homes with broadband access during the first three quarters of last year.
